Session on the launch of the Houses
The session was facilitated by Mbuso Sikhakhane. He welcomed the members of staff present acknowledging their various categories. The subject was introduced by Siyanda Nxumalo (Principal: Ohlange High School) to the congregated staff and the alumni, to outline the context of relaunching the house system at the school targeting the learners.
Bheki Gumede presented the experience and the individuals whose names are used for identifying all four houses, namely, Charles, Luthuli, Mdima and Ntsihlele. Distinguishing characteristics of the characters and values were highlighted through their respective lives at Ohlange. Conversations related to the role of the staff, support through the various sporting codes, support of the academic programme (study groups), the relevance of the colours, the mixing of teams in terms of skill, prowess and aptitude were presented.
Allocations of learners to the respective houses and paraphernalia were distributed effectively to every learner, an assembly was address by various alumni including, Zandi Mkhize, Samkelo Ngubane, Tozi Gumbi, Busi Mashiyane, Ndumiso Mnguni, Sonta Ngcobo, Justice Motta, Sipho Magwaza, Madoda Jamile to inspire learners in their allocated houses. The excited photographs attest to the mood.
Finally, an alumni touch sides at the Mafukuzela homestead was undertaken, to affirm the programme of 151 years celebration of Dr. J. L Dube with the family.
