Ohlange High School has gone through phases that led to changes whereby the school ended up losing some of the buildings such as Boy’s dormitories, Soccer field, etc. The system was more open to local day scholars more than boarders as previously cultured.
The former learners (Zebras) at the school were concerned about the developments, and they started mobilising through the previous and current leadership, to assist in reviving the culture of the school.
In 1985, a fund-raising Gala Dinner was held, where funds were raised with an intention to rebuild the school culture.
The Zebras from the era of former Principals Mr SD Ngcobo and Mr GV Sangweni came together to form an Alumni Association in 2020, during the COVID 19 pandemic.
An Alumni Association was registered, after the Board of Trustees had also been officially formed and registered. Most of the Board members, are also members of the Alumni Association.
The Alumni Association had an Interim Committee, which was collapsed after the official election of members at the Annual General Meeting which was held on 11 September 2021 at the Chapel (Ohlange High School) premises, where Mr Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela had voted for the first time on 27 April 1994.
The Alumni Association is receiving more members since its inception. Currently +97 members in good standing.
